CITY OF CHICAGO PRINT DESIGN

TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

Xeno Design was based in Chicago between 1981 and ’89. We had many great clients – in particular the Chicago Tourism Council, Hotel-Motel Association of Illinois, Hyatt Regency/Chicago, Illinois Department of Commerce & Community Affairs/Office of Tourism, Illinois Restaurant Association and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events.

As a page of classic Xeno design, this isn’t ground zero, but a quick look at the early days. We were active with the Mayor’s Office of Special Events: 1985 – ’88 designing graphics for Celebrate in Chicago 4 years running. “Celebrate”, at the time, was the nation’s largest organization of city sponsored summer festivals and free public events.

Following are seven examples of City of Chicago print design from our portfolio: “Celebrate” brochure 1985, Neighborhood Festivals 1985, brochure spread 1985, two front covers and a sample spread from the Metro Chicago Hotel Guide series we designed for the Hotel-Motel Association of Illinois in the same time period.

At the bottom is the Celebrate in Chicago 1988 schedule of events.
