Xeno: 1981-1991
It was the dawn of the digital age. In the early ’80s only my typesetter had a computer. The production of graphic design was a physical experience, not the cyber activity it is today. I love my Apple computer, but I’m glad to have come of age as a designer in this era. Viva New Wave!
And speaking of how it all began, I must give credit to a particular publication I art directed for 2+ years: Zoetrope. This was an after hours project, mainly for the purpose of a group of artists to learn and grow. It was a vehicle to try new ideas and push the limits of our skills (and along the way, win a few national awards).
The 1980s were a prolific period for everyone. Samples below are just a taste of the work done during that time. What I think they show best is the level of energy and excitement from that time period – fresh, physical and ready to party. – c –
